Deerfield Beach Pier renovation: a dated log

The short answer

The City of Deerfield Beach, Florida hired Brothers Construction to repair its International Fishing Pier, with a $3,234,075 base contract awarded Dec. 12, 2023 and $1,517,500 in enhancements approved March 5, 2024. This page keeps a dated record of the work on the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier. It is built from the City’s Pier Renovations FAQ, the City’s pier page and one news report, which we label as news. We checked all of them on Oct. 20, 2026. Where something is not confirmed, we say so plainly.

Status on Oct. 20, 2026

The City’s pier page lists standing hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and a rate table effective Feb. 23, 2026. The same page says that as of Oct. 20, 2026 the pier is closed sunset through sunrise until further notice, “due to maintenance needs.” The City has not said what that maintenance is, when it ends, or whether it is connected to the renovation.

Contract and cost

The City’s FAQ says Brothers Construction, Inc. was the top-ranked, responsive and responsible bidder of three responses. The base repairs cost $3,234,075. On March 5, 2024 the Commission added $1,517,500 in enhancements. The contractor also gave a $140,040 discount for a full pier closure.

By our arithmetic, base plus enhancements comes to $4,751,575, or $4,611,535 after the discount. Those are our sums of the City’s figures. The City does not publish a total. The $4.6 million figure is WSVN’s, from its June 2024 report, and we quote it as news, not as a City number.

  • "Brothers Construction, Inc. was the top ranked, responsive and responsible bidder" of 3 responses to RFP #24-03-BA; the base pier-repair contract was awarded at the December 12, 2023 Commission meeting. City of Deerfield Beach: FAQs, Pier Renovations
  • "The cost for the base repairs for the Pier Renovations is $3,234,075. On March 5, 2024, the City Commission approved additional enhancements to the Pier in the amount of $1,517,500." The contractor gave a $140,040.00 discount for a full pier closure. City of Deerfield Beach: FAQs, Pier Renovations

What the enhancements were to include

  • Demolition of the existing pavilion
  • Two new 20 ft by 20 ft Ipe pavilions
  • Electrical and lighting for the western pavilion
  • Six new custom fish cleaning stations with water hookup
  • 15 new park benches
  • Replacement fence and gates
  • An illuminated welcome sign at the pier
  • Approved enhancements: demolition of the existing pavilion; two new 20 ft by 20 ft Ipe pavilions; electrical and lighting for the western pavilion; six new custom fish cleaning stations with water hookup; 15 new park benches; replacement fence and gates; an illuminated welcome sign at the pier. That is what the Commission approved. The FAQ does not say which items are finished, and we have not confirmed each one in person. WSVN’s 2024 report also listed railings, lighting, signage, fish-cutting stations, decking and public art.

The timeline the City gave

The FAQ estimated the base repairs at 12 to 16 months, plus 90 days for the enhancements, and gave an “Anticipated reopening of pier to the public Summer 2025”. WSVN’s report said 14 to 18 months. The FAQ has not been updated since, while the pier page, checked Oct. 20, 2026, lists normal hours and the February 2026 rates.

What is confirmed, and what is not

Confirmed by City pages on Oct. 20, 2026

  • The pier page lists standing hours and a rate table effective Feb. 23, 2026.
  • The pier page lists rod rentals, passes and pier programs.
  • The pier is closed sunset through sunrise from Oct. 20, 2026, until further notice.
  • The contractor, contract dates and the City’s cost figures above.

Not confirmed

  • Whether every phase of the renovation is finished.
  • Which approved enhancements have been built.
  • What the October 2026 maintenance is, and when the night closure ends.
  • Any grand reopening date. The City has not published one.

Search summaries describe a City news alert about a “Phase 1” opening of the pier. When we tried its link on Oct. 20, 2026 it returned an error, and we could not read it at the source, so we do not repeat its details. If the City republishes it, we will add it to the log with its date.

What to check before you go

  • Call the pier at 954-250-4167, or the pier manager at 954-250-4166.
  • Read “Upcoming operational impacts” on the City’s pier page.
  • Use the date checker on our hours and fees page.
  • Plan a daylight visit while the night closure stands.
  • Look before you leave on the pier cams, and check parking.

The pier’s longer story, back to the wooden pier of 1951-1952, is on our history page. Anglers will find fees and the license question on the fishing page.

Was the pier recently renovated?

Yes. The city's renovation FAQ says Brothers Construction won the base repair contract on December 12, 2023, for $3,234,075. On March 5, 2024, the Commission added $1,517,500 in enhancements, including two 20-by-20-foot Ipe pavilions, six new fish cleaning stations, 15 benches, new fencing and an illuminated welcome sign. News reports (WSVN, June 2024) said the work followed damage from Hurricane Nicole in 2022. The city has not published a completion date, and its FAQ still shows the old "Summer 2025" reopening estimate.
